Should have waited until she was two years old to breed her. Depends how big she is. You didn't say how big or her weight. The weight makes a big difference. My one female Shih Tzu's weighs 15 pounds she always have six, my other female is 10 pounds and she has three..so it varies. My friend Shih Tzu at 1-1/2 year old just had puppies..and she just had two. I told him to wait until she was 2, but he went and breed her anyway. I feel that is two young. Wait a year before you breed her again.

I am happy to see mommy and baby are doing fine...Shih Tuz's makes very good mothers.

There is nothing wrong with a dog having just one pup. Small dogs usually only have one pup. My dashschund had 7 puppies in the middle of the night.

Sure they can have just one pup but watch her closely. If she does still have a pup inside it could cause real problems for her. Infection will set in very quickly. If she is resting comfy and shows no signs of wanting to expell another pup then your probably ok.

Some smaller breeds may have only one or two pups. Just to be save you are going to want to have her checked by a vet. If she still has a pup in her that is not born that is not good.

Yes.

Our chihuahua-mix just had a single pup 6 weeks ago (a very LARGE puppy, btw -- Now we really wonder if the father is who we thought it was. ha ha).

Yep she's a small breed so that's normal. Just make sure she's not pushing or straining. If you're worried take her to the vet and they will make sure.

She can just have one puppy, but sometimes puppies are born days apart.

Yep, I would take mom and baby to the vet to be checked soon though.

it is possible that she would have just one, but it is also possible for her to still have a puppy inside just keep an eye on her.
