Can i get imput on when people have a religous spirit?

The bible says not to...any idea on why some go extreme...most of the time they do not see anything wrong with it...its like a major denial

I think a religious spirit is manifested in people who become legalistic in their approach to God and His people. They usually have holier than thou attitudes and tend to be rigid and inflexible. No one is right except these people. They obey the letter of the law but usually without the love that is supposed to be demonstrated by those who claim to love God.
