James 2:23 says that Abraham was called the "friend" of God.
John 15:15 Jesus called the disciples friends instead of servants because He had revealed intimate details of the Father's will.
Also in Exodus 33:11 it says that Moses talked to God face to face the same way that a man talks to a friend.
I hope that this helps you.

God spoke to Moses "as a man speaks with his friend." (Exodus 33:11)
Abraham was called God's "friend." "But you, O Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend . . " (Isaiah 41:8)
Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." (John 15:13-15)
Jesus spoke these words specifically to the disciples after Judas had left the room, about to betray him. He seems to be referring back to the understanding of the descendants of Abraham being "servants" and now as His followers, being called "friends." By extension all followers who walk in obedience would be "friends."
This seems to fit with the New Testament Covenant. Under the Old Covenant, there were a few set apart as "friends," there were a few who had the position of "priest," there was one "chosen nation". Under the New Covenant, all followers are "friends," all believers are a "royal priesthood," and salvation is for "all the nations."

Since Jesus is not the same as God, the only actual reference to anyone being a friend of God is with Abraham.

James 2:23
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
John 15:15
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
Jesus made us his friends, by revealing himself to us through the Holy Spirit. Abraham became a friend of God through his great faith.
blessings!

Jesus, calls his freinds, those who obey his commandments and the will of God the Father.
God the Father only appears to men who OBEY.
as it is written Jesus promised that "both" of them will visit the people who are obedietn. The last person i know of that fulfilled this is Abraham. Oh wait! Joseph smith jr. testified that God and Jesus appeared unto him. too.
John 15:14,15
let it be known though i am a witness of jesus, i have never been called a "freind", so therefore i must assume I am still only a servant.
