I was a member of the speech and debate team, and I was signed up to go to the national qualifying tournament, but I had no ride.
I told the coach, but he just brushed me off. Later of, I sign up for sure and hand in my form (trying desperately to find a ride) when he says "Oh, its in pencil" in a bitchy tone. Then he says to me, "Oh, your wearing a tie so you know, and a shirt that does not look like a tent". He was been disrespectful to me before, but I just brushed it off, but never did he insult the way I dressed.

Thats when I got mad. But, why should I go through so much trouble if he is going to disrespect me. SO at the end of the day, I call him tell him i cant go to the tournament. Then we talk in person, I tell him I cant go and he says i should have told him earlier. So, I told him how i felt i was disrespected, so he screams "I dont want you to come" and i say "Good, because im not". Then he says” I dont even want to see you again"

So, later on, I hear he tells people he put me off the team (which is not true, becuase i quit), and telling people this story and mu business. He is gossping with students and talking behind my back.

DO you think that is wrong of him, and if so what should I do. Was I right to react the way I did, ect.

I think he did put you off the whole idea deliberately. OK, it was your decision to quit, but because he was not encouraging. I don't see that you did anything to make yourself popular here!

I think he was wrong to ignore your skills as a debater, and it is a hard thing to hear. But weren't you expecting him to do all the work to book you in, and pretty casually too, at the last minute?
You wanted him to copy out your details, organise your transport, and tell you how to dress. Then when he's later making all the bookings for the team, you ring him to complain & yell and change your mind?

What he was trying to tell you is that you that you normally dress inappropriately to represent your school at a national tournament.
People go on what they see. How long would they get to see you at this debate, before you even get to speak, and how would they judge you and your school?

He's probably proud of the school, and wants your team to have a good attitude, and make a great impression. You weren't doing him any favours.

I bet he had to fill out many forms & papers to enter you guys in the tournament, and in a certain color ink, and very neatly. Then you come along with a last-minute pencilled paper, extra work for him, which lacked consideration for him, would likely make his hands grubby, and then rub off on the application forms so that they looked scruffy & that this school didn't care whether they were accepted or not.

If he saw it like that, and you had to be told this, why not smarten up your look, plan ahead, and apply again (in time) for next year?
And maybe offer to help out the team meanwhile? I am sorry if that sounds uncaring, but I'm assuming that in spite of appearances and lack of planning, you really did want to take part?

After reading your problem, a teacher should never treat a student like the way you were treated, I would suggest putting a complaint in against the teacher to the head of the school and if you can get witness or proof before you do, then do it.

I would report him to the local board of education--file a formal complaint. No teacher should be rude and disrespectful and lie and tell your personal business......
