Of course! But it is hard to tell if they are really on their way or not when the siren is not on.

To those who say yes...Do you know what goes on? I speed at work with no lights or sirens. I roll stop signs and even go through red lights when it is clear and safe to do so. Do you not wish that we respond to your calls for service in a rapid manner. What if we are going to an armed robbery call. Do you want the suspect to know we are coming? That would be great. We could then escallate into a hostage situation. Do you want a burglar at 3am to know that we are rapidly approaching. Heck, I turn all my lights off when I'm a block or two away. That would be super if he heard us. He could get a good minute or two jump on us. the only calls that really neccesitate lights and sirens are fight calls, with possible physical harm, traffic crashes with injuries, and other officers needing assistance. If you are so picky about an officer running 10 to 20 over do this...Next time you call us when someon has just knocked at your front door at 2am and are now walking to the back. Let us know not to speed. Tell us if we do that we should get a ticket. Or, when that guy kicks in your back door you could let us do what we know how to do. Get there!

I think that if a person is ready to risk his life so you people can be safe in your community than they should not be given tickets. You never know what they are doing, they could be going to a call and not have their lights on, they do this so the criminals won't run. Who will police the polic, if it is a brotherhood of officers than no one will give their brother a ticket. Mabey all of you people should get off the police officers case as they are just trying to make a difference in society. If they drive with caution than we should leave them alone.

Officers are liable for their driving regardless of a pursuit or othwerwise. Keep in mind that a lot of the things officers go to have some level of urgency. It might not warrant a blue light/siren response, but it might warrant an expeditious response. Do some officers have driving problems? Yep. But so do a lot of civilians.
If you think an officer's driving needs to be reported, then call his department and report it. Let him explain to his supervisor why he was driving in that manner at that particular time/place.
What you DON'T want to do is chase him down and then ask him why he was driving in that manner. He might be arriving at the scene of a domestic fight...etc. and the last thing he needs is some do-gooder distracting him with stupid questions. If you do that, don't expect Officer Friendly.
Good luck.

Keep in mind that officers often respond to calls and for various reasons don't use their lights and/or sirens. An example may be a hold-up type alarm. The officer may respond with lights and sirens until they get close, and will shut down to avoid announcing themselves. Just because you don't see the lights, that doesn't mean that the officer isn't responding to something.

There is one huge problem with that concept. You would have to know that they weren't in pursuit. Just because cops aren't chasing someone with their lights and sirens doesn't mean that there isn't a need for urgency to respond to a call.

Yes, they should unless they have a good reason, in which case they should turn their sirens on (that's what they're their for...). Speed limits are posted to make driving safe, anyone that speeds makes driving more dangerous for everyone, including police.

yes but their buddies won't ticket them here in the great republic of Georgia cops rarely obey traffic laws they are above the laws and us people have no right to do anything about it if you try to go to the police about it they will laugh at you its like telling one bully that another bully stole your lunch money now you have two bullies trying to steal your lunch money, or ruin your lives. I had a friend who got run out of town by the local police because he picked on them in high school now if a cop sees him in town he will get pulled over and searched and harassed to try to provoke him to do something to land him in jail no more power to the people now its police power to the government

if you feel that is your lot in life, go ahead. follow one and call it in. You may find that there are some that are in a hurry for no reason and then you will find that there are some that have a reason to be in a hurry, they are just not announcing it to you and gaining your permission to do it. They have reasons for doing what they do, even if it isn't obvious to the general public.
