There is more than one assumption, but I suppose the assumption that I'll have a long life is one of them.

My assumption: In general, people are good, honest, and want to improve themselves. Very humanistic and naive.
I've been proven wrong before. and I don't depend on my assumption (or else I would be taken advantage of a lot)--it is simply how I view the world and people.
To Cylon--and others with that point of view-- How can you not assume anything? If you agree to meet a person at a certain time you are making an assumption--that you will be alive to meet them in the future. I understand not "depending" on your assumptions, but I think everyone must make them in order to think about the future.

Life is to important to make assumptions about. An informed decision is definitely called for.

The only thing that comes to mind is that I'm very attractive. Or to be more accurate, WAS.
I haven't gone bow-wow or anything, but let's face it, if you're talking STRICTLY about physical appearance, most of us look better when we're younger.
As we age, it begins to fade bit by bit, until suddenly one day you wake up and realize that you're no longer attractive to teenage boys! (Whether you think that's a good thing or not).
EDIT: I took this to mean what we BUILT... as in past tense. Obviously I've picked up a few new ideas along the way.

Assumptions are unreliable. I build my life on the certain knowledge that I am saved by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and will spend eternity in His presence, if I live my live according to His divine plan.

when i was nine a voice spoke to me and asked when i was going to fulfill my mission. I had just spent the summer at my fathers house where I was RAISED out of my body and into the sky and saw a spirit being face to face and eye to eye.
first! was the voice a demon and not an angel.? probably!
second: did i die because of poison or what it the spirit of God that PULLED my spirit out of my body? or was that spirit satan? or even still was it the power and trickery of some sorcery, not intended for me but for my grandfather? as it was his camper i slept in. or if it was intended for me, was it still a trick of sorcery and the use of poison.
what ever it was! i saw and experienced either a matrix type contructs of a drug induced vision/dream. Or what i saw and experience might have been a true religious spiritual experience.
after that i became a child of satan. Not because of choice but because of the ways of the world. children grow up in peer pressure and follow the OTHER kinds of wickedness.
after someone gave me a bible i believed in it. and lo and behold i saw an angel appear in my bedroom. Most christians will say it was SATAN trying to deceive me, i thought it was Jesus at first, and that i had missed the "rapture".
so i had seen either satan or a true angel. either way it proves that God exists. I dont think anyone can immitate what i saw even with all their secret knowledge.
Later, i prayed for and sought the gift of prophecy, and was visited by the unseen spirit of revelation and saw visions or halucinations as unbelievers would declare because of the trickery of drugs and sorceries.
Later i beheld the visions of the glory of Jesus christ.
these things proved to me there is a God! When they happened there was no doubt that they are PROOF of God. To me. and this is what has formed the assumptions of my life and because of these things, my life has been formed.
I never imagined that i would SEE jesus or an angel, they happened after I believed but I was still in the form of a lack of knowledge to know that these things happen to true believers.
it does not make me a saint, but it does show I did something correct that God himself or Jesus approved enough of my life and my faith for it to succeed.
because of these things, both saints and christians alike and muslims are proven to be following false doctrines. many are decieved. WHY? because the merre fact that a vision happened to someone like me even though I was a wicked person and a criminal proves that such things do exist despite what ministers and preachers and emums and evangelicals preach on their pulpits.
God accepts ALL people of all naitions, of the whole earth, who do works of righteousness.Who believe and who repent, and fear Him.

23And not only the creation, but we ourselves too, who have and enjoy the firstfruits of the [Holy] Spirit [a foretaste of the blissful things to come] groan inwardly as we wait for the redemption of our bodies [from sensuality and the grave, which will reveal] our adoption (our manifestation as God's sons).
24For in [this] hope we were saved. But hope [the object of] which is seen is not hope. For how can one hope for what he already sees?
25But if we hope for what is still unseen by us, we wait for it with patience and composure.
