Christians often make the division between true Christians and everyone who says they are a Christian because about 80% of America says they are Christian, and only about half of those have even ever darkened the door of a church.
Many people in America believe they are a Christian because they are not a Buddhist, or Muslim, or atheist. They think that they are a Christian simply because they live in America. These are the people Christians are excluding when they say a true Christian.
There is also other issue of those who go to Church, but have no personal commitment to Jesus Christ. They just go to church on Sundays or on Easter and Christmas and declare themselves Christians. These people aren't Christians either.
Being a Christian means that a person has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who, though He was God, came to earth as a human to live a sinless life, and die on a cross for our wrongdoings. He then rose from the grave three days later and now has sent the Holy Spirit, who is also God, so that if we believe on Jesus Christ, pursuing submission to Him as our Lord, we will be brought to a right relationship with him forever.

A True christian follows the word of God and lives the life of Christ. Has a loving spirit, goes to church, not only knows the fruit of the spirits but acts on them. A christian is not someone who only goes to Church on sunday morning and acts like a nonbeliever through the week. They act like a christian 24/7. When you ever come across a christian and a true christian you will be able to tell the difference by their spirti of God and how they act inside of their heart. The bible says you will know the true followers in christ by the fruit of their spirit.

To thine own self be true. I really don't know for sure. But, I have seen many examples of hypocrisy and maybe that is a true face of today's Christianity? You will know them by their works; in sheep's clothing.I prefer not to associate myself with any particular organization, denomination or by attendance. I do not hate it though. I find it all rather disquieting with the brothers against brothers over interpretations and doctrines.Phooey. If and when Jesus returns he'll straighten them out and separate them.

There are those doing Christs work. That of finding and teaching people from their bible about Jehovah God and the works of his son Jesus while here on earth.
Jesus founded his church and designated what was to be taught.
Those doing his will were members of "The Way" = Christians
We as Jehovah's Witnesses follow his ways and teach what he taught.
The rest (IN my opinion) are Christian only if doing the work Jesus told us to do, and that is to"Go and make disciples"
You cannot do that, just sitting and squawking about it.
James said FAITH without works,,,,,,,is dead"
So to put it simply, If you ain't practicing Christianity, you ain't a Christian.

I don't believe there is a difference. Either a person is a Christian, or they're not. Christians are supposed to be known for their good works. If they're not known for good works, then maybe they're not Christians.
Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

There is not a such thing as a "difference between a true christian and a christian": You're either are one or you're not.

Charity, which is the pure love of Christ. I believe in Christ and am referred to as a Christian. I have not yet reached a state that I am completely charitable.
