Because I was thinking about getting one but some of my friends say its bad for your back but then again i have another friend and she says she loves hers

I loved everything about mine but trying to make it. So I got a hard sided waterbed with a padded top. Its comfortable but not as good for my back. But the ease in buying sheets and making up the bed makes up for the little bit less comfort of the bed.
You don have to adjust it for yourself, and if you regularly have someone sleep with you then when you fill it, you have to take that into account.

I had a water bed for years and loved it. When I was a kid I had reconstructive surgery on my hips and the doctor said that a water bed would actually be better for me than a regular bed. Ask your doctor if there are consequences, but I have never heard of negative effects.
