take it up with the union that you were under while at the job involved, that caused the white finger. The average claim going through the system at this present time is £12,000. Good Luck.

Vibration White Finger was originally linked to power tools in 1911, but wasn’t recognised as a disease until 1985. In 1997, a historical court case awarded £127,000 compensation to seven miners for Vibration White Finger acquired through work and thousands of cases have been recorded since. The last survey about Vibration White Finger was carried out in 1997/8 by the Medical Research Council. It found that there were an estimated 228,000 sufferers in the UK, very few of which had made a VWF claim or knew they were entitled to make a claim. As VWF is recognised as a disease, affected workers may be eligible for Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB). This is a government-funded allowance that can be claimed through the JobCentre Plus. You can read more about IIDB at www.direct.gov.uk. Don't know about making a claim for compensation through the DSS, but if you visit the site below, you may get some guidance (quote) : '........If you have been diagnosed with VWF in the last three years, we can help you make an accident claim..........' ALSO the second site is worth a visit, as it details the procedures that need to be completed to make a claim involving any RSI (quote) : '...The second source of compensation is the state benefits system which is administered by the Department of Social Security. Again claims can be difficult and long drawn out.'

It will depend on the conditions of how you got this. Did your employers give you health and safety training etc.? If it was caused by your employers failure to comply with health and safety regulations then they should be liable for compensatory payment, not the dss.
