There are too many things that cats can develop that are serious and need to be seen by the vet, that the sniffles are an indicator. If you have not started using a new product around the house, and you have not changed foods or anything else like that, then it's likely a problem that the vet needs to diagnose and treat.

There are too many very serious things that the "sniffles" can become. Take the cat to the vet.

If your cat is sneezing or coughing that is a sign of an Upper Respiratory Infection and there's nothing you can do at home.
The cat must be seen by a Vet ASAP...an Upper Respiratory Infection shouldn't be left untreated for any reason.

There is a virus that kittens often catch and most cats will have over their lifetime. Kind of like feline chickenpox (every kid gets it at some point). But the best thing is to take him to the vet for antibiotics, he will feel much better and you won't have cat snot on your walls.

Why other then the vet?

If your cat is sick, the vet should be the first thing you do.

Um, let's see-- take it to the vet.

Can't afford it, don't have it. (Goes for both pets and children.)
