You can do alot of things to try to DISTRACT you from reality, TV, internet, time with friends ect. But if your having a hard time with something in your life, the only real way to deal with it is to face it, and to work past it. This to shall pass is what I tell myself when I don't think I can handle much more of something. Because it always does. Things go back and forth, but what you have to look forward to is the upswings in life. If your having a really hard time, and think you might be depressed you could talk to a phsyciatrist, or a therapist. But if you can't, confide in a good friend, sometimes they can be your best therapist.

It depends on why you want to escape reality. Is it because you don't want to accept responsibility for your life, or a bad deed? Or is it because you don't want to accept something in your life that is troubling about someone else, called denial? Or is it just for a "while" type thing? If it is for "just for a while" type thing, then all the other answers in this forum is good for that type of escape. But if it is any thing else, then you need to "take a reality check" and find out why you want to escape reality. Sometimes our realities aren't very encouraging to ourselves, and if this is your case, then you may need more help then this forum can offer.

The internet is a popular option around here. If you really want to escape reality, you can try psychotropic drugs, but it probably won't be fun for you especially if there's something you're running away from.

what helps me is painting. Go to your nearest Mart or craft store, buy a mix of acrylic paints, usually about a dollar each, grab a few brushes, buy a canvas, or find an empty wall at home, and go for it...free your mind, let the brush do the painting for you...put on some background music and just relax...don't worry about cleaning up any paint or about getting your clothes ruined...just enjoy the moment.
