I went on Jenny Craig and lost 38 pounds a few years ago. In the meantime I had some personal issues that caused me to have to get off of it, and I gained back about 20 pounds. I have since rejoined and refocused and have been back on for about 2 and a half months. I exercise 3-5 times a week for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, eat healthy during the week, but allow myself some cheats on the weekend. I have only lost 7 pounds so far. There have been some weeks where I have not lost at all, and others where I have even gained in spite of going to the gym and sticking to the plan. Has this happened to anyone else? How do I break through this? i'm feeling helpless, and I really don't want to give up my weekend cheat! It's one of the only things that keeps me on plan during the week!

Keep a log of EVERYTHING YOU EAT AND ALL THE EXERCISES YOU DO for a week or two (at LEAST a week).

You can use www.FitDay.com to keep track. You may be doing something wrong that you don't realize. Keep track and measure all your portions exactly for a week as a test to see.

Also, make sure you switch up your exercise. If you normally run, start biking. If you do kickboxing, start running, etc., etc. Your body can easily get use to something and slow weight loss.

Also, make you cardio sessions SHORT AND INTENSE. Make them last no longer than 15mins and SPRINT the entire time for whatever you're doing. A short, intense workout is FAR FAR FAR more effective than a longer, less intense one.

And monitor your heart rate. Make sure its up in your 65-85% max. You max is 220 minus your age... and then just multiply that by 0.65 and 0.85 separately to get the range of where it should be kept.

I would go have your thyroid and other hormones checked. My pituatary gland quick working on me about 18 months ago and even though I was working out 5 days a week, like I had been for years, I started gaining weight.....45 pounds worth and it has been nearly impossible to take off, because I have no metabolism. Its regulated with medication, but its still extremely hard. I have to watch everything I eat. If I would have caught it sooner I probably wouldn't have packed on so many pounds. I didn't pay attention to the weight gain as soon as I should have, I put it off as to being happy in a relationship and probably eating a little more than usual. If all is well with your hormones, then I would stick to a 6 day work out, along with strength training. The more lean muscle you have, the more calories you burn. Good luck.

Simply...you have to stay on your diet and not cheat to get over the plateau...you have to burn more calories that you take in...and not cheat there either...I was in the fitness industry for 8 years, taught lots of classes everyday...the body cannot really do that without breaking down...I learned quickly to make it look like I was working hard while teaching...I wasn't working hard at all...yes, you can cheat during exercise!!! Remember too that muscle weighs more than fat...you still may be loosing fat but gaining muscle...go by how your clothes fit and measurements...

No, you didn't kill your metabolism. There is no such thing. To lose one pound without any change in eating habits, you need to walk 20 hours or do 10 miles of walking. Thats a lot of walking! So it's better to excercise and change your eating habits to lose weight faster. By cheating on the weekend, you have to exercise more, which is kind of dumb. It would be better if you happen to cheat on just one meal to eat better right aways on the next meal.

If you are serious about it, leave the cheats alone until you reach your goal and then you can have a few cheats. If your cheats consist of high calories and high fats you are not accomplishing much. Its like taking two steps forward and one backwards. You will eventually get where you are going but it will take you longer.
Consider weight watchers over Jenny Craig. I like the food choices with weight watchers.

Funny thing about diets, they don't work. Unless you are willing and able to change your eating habits so you are eating healthy well balances meals on a regular basis and getting regular exercise you will not keep the weight off.

Treats and snacks can be incorporated into a well balanced diet. I do not deny myself anything, I just am very mindful of my portions sizes.

The best way to loose weight is go talk to a nutritionist to get an idea of what nutrients you do need, what foods alone and in combination are beneficial to your metabolism.

Every time yo go on and off a diet, you body finds it harder and harder to adjust (yo yo dieting). The best way it always to teach yourself how to eat healthy in the first place and make it a part of your day to day life.

I suggest kicking up the working out a bit. That might help. and maybe having one day of cheating instead of a weekend. and don't go overboard on the cheating
