There is a lot of mormon doctrine and a lot of confusion on the mark in the forehead that Cain received.
but seeing that christians believe in the false doctrineof the trinity, how can they believe the truth if it is shown to them in sound doctrine?
i found a website that rebukes Pres Hinkley as a liar for denying the doctrine of the curse of Cain even though Pres Young himself declares that cain was cursed with black skin and a flat nose? Did pres hinckly speek out of error, or did Pres brigham young speak his opinion and it was NOT the words of God. ?

Brigham Young is the ONE who defined the curse of cain as black skin and a flat nose. the fact that he used the words flat nose Seems to clearly say He was NOT speaking for God in my opinion.

Simeon Ide, a historian in California, wrote that Lilburn W. Boggs was "a man of superior intelligence; [a] very competent and useful citizen-a patriotic co-worker in establishing law and order where none before existed."11 Elder Parley P. Pratt differed dramatically in his assessment: "Lilburn W. Boggs is dragging out a remnant of existence in California, with the mark of Cain upon his brow, and the fear of Cain within his heart, lest he that findeth him shall slay him. He is a living stink, and will go down to posterity with the credit of a wholesale murderer."1229

BLACK SKIN WAS NOT THE CURSE

The next question: "Was Cain cursed with a black skin?" Technically the black skin was not the curse, but the mark of the curse. The scriptures do not say that Cain was made black, but we read that his descendants were.

in a broad general sense, caste systems have their root and origin in the gospel itself, and when they operate according to the divine decree, the resultant restrictions and segregation are right and proper and have the approval of the Lord. To illustrate: Cain, Ham, and the whole ***** race have been cursed with a black skin, the mark of Cain, so they can be identified as a caste apart, a people with whom the other descendants of Adam should not intermarry. (Gen. 4; Moses 5.)

the "curse of Cain" that you speak of, that he was cursed with Black skin, is not officially the doctrine of the LDS church. There are those that do believe it, including some that may be high in the hierarchy of the church, but in those cases it is just thier opinion and not the doctrine of the church. Within the church people are allowed to come to their own conclusions on matters. Nothing wrong with Pres. Hinkley.

From what I've learned in seminary and anywhere else for that matter, there are two different "cursings" I guess you would call them. The greater cursing is the separation from the gospel of Christ, the lesser is also known as the mark with the lamanites, but it had to do with the changing of the color of skin.

In recent years, the first and greater curse has been taken off both the decendants of Cain and of Laman. They have been able to bring the restored gospel of Christ back into their homes and they have been assured of their salvation. The lesser curse, or the mark has not been lifted and will probably continue with both groups perpetually.

I don't believe that President Hinckley was denying the curse, he was stating that it has been lifted and is not a permanent thing.

12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
(Old Testament | Genesis 4:12)

37 When thou tillest the ground it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength. A fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
39 Behold thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the Lord, and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that he that findeth me will slay me, because of mine iniquities, for these things are not hid from the Lord.
40 And I the Lord said unto him: Whosoever slayeth thee, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And I the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
(Pearl of Great Price | Moses 5:37 - 40)

As stated by the Bible and the Book of Moses,
the curse of cain is that cain will be a fugitive, it said nothing of black skin or flate nose.

As with what other internet site claimed or say, it is not our church doctrine, I wouldn't even waste time explaining.
