The Priest is clearly an idiot as is any member of a religion that would dare to violate one of Gods gifts to mankind. That's right, when any religious person tells you having children is fundamental to marriage they are in fact going against Gods wishes......and what is it I am speaking of? FREE WILL!!
That's right, that pesky free will, which trumps what some celibate, non-marrying priest will tell you any day.
You are also correct about thinking any of us will cower and be submissive simply because a priest or even the Pope says something. They clearly have forgotten their place, and for the record, their place in a church preaching the gospel, not us telling what to do. Suggest through homily if they wish, but to command? the Divine right of Kings and Popes is long gone, and frankly, good riddance.

By some people's definition of what marriage should be the having children part is integral. Thing is marriage today seems to mean different things to different people. Should any one group define it for us all? I am married over seven years and we have chosen to not have children so far. My husband wanted to finish a PhD and I my masters and then we wanted to fulfill some dreams together involving travel that would have been difficult to do pregnant or with small children. We love each other very much and are totally committed to our marriage and spending our lives together. We may decide to have children of our own or adopt some day or we may not. Either way for us our marriage is a special commitment and bond that stands regardless of whether we procreate or not.
I mean what about couple who can't have children? Are their marriages not valid? I don't believe marriage without children is immoral and I don't believe in hell anyway.

I believe that in today's society with such a high divorce rate that religious leaders feel having kids will keep marriages stronger. On the contrary, couples fight more because they feel obligated to stick together for the kids and then scar the kids emotionally due to all the fighting.
These are people who often don't have children themselves (funny, eh?) or are allowed relationships...

Some people want children and some do not.
Some people get married and some do not.
It does not make you immoral if you do not have children...breaking God's commands does.
The two greatest command:
1) Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.
2) Love one another, as Jesus has loved us.
Follow those two commands and everything else will fall into place.
Best wishes!

Aren't there enough people on this planet?
And enough other people popping out 4, 5, 10+ kids?
I think so. It's ridiculous to think that two people can't have a strong, fulfilling relationship without children. No one should have children if they do not want to.

Personally think that's a religious/denominational thing, it's not
immoral to not have children, it's not immoral to not be married
(however, intimacies with the unwed ---- I have a belief here too)
If you want to stay out of the hot places, have a cool, intimate
relationship with God.

God told Adam(PBUH*) and Eve to mutilply the Earth. I'm not sure if it's fundamental to have children and no you won't go to Hell if you don't have kids but you may regret not having kids when your in a nursing home at 60 years old.

No, if you don't feel that you want kids, you are doing the world a favor by not having any. I don't know whether you would be a good parent or not, but you would definitely resent a child you never wanted in the first place.

I have no children, and have been happily married for nearly 18 years. My personal opinion is that the world is populated enough. The ministers who united me and my spouse didn't appear to have any problem with us not having children.
