No, probably the opposite. It is a lack of morals in business (the bottom line is god) that leads to atheism. If you convince yourself there is no higher power, then you are free to do whatever evil you want. Look to the Whitehouse for more than one prime example.

Whenever the church or any other religious function gets too involved with politics, the political system fails the people... A greater role than we have already will bring this country down.

No. The separation of church and state was intended to allow freedom of worship without interference from the government. By the same token, the institution of the church should not be allowed in politics, for it would alienate the non-Christian representatives of this country and deteriorate the infrastructure from within. It is a noble concept, I'll admit, but prayer for guidance in the decisions that will govern our secular lives is as far as the church should ever be allowed to go.

NO WAY! The church got itself involved in the last election and look at how well that paid off.
If anything, religion itself leads to atheism. I don't think that I would have left the church if it wasn't full of nutjobs.
