i'm thirty and had my first one done last summer. You shouldnt worry, you have alot of drugs and probably wont feel much. My dentist said that some people feel things but most don't, I felt some pain but I assure you it does go away and if you stay relaxed and think of good things, breathe deeply you will get through it....it also doesnt take a horribly long time either. Afterward you still feel the effects of the drugs so you feel okay, afterward your parents will give you some advil and you'll probably rest that night.....next day you'll feel great. If your getting a root canal that means you probably experienced pain with that tooth anyway...I did, and it felt great to get it fixed.

In a root canal the dentist will remove the infected nerve and blood vessel from inside the root of the tooth. A good dentist will make sure you are very numb beforehand, and the only thing yo feel should be the first shot. Some people have a small pinch when the end of the nerve is cut, but only a small number. After that you may have some tenderness in the area overnight (like a small bruise) and then nothing.
It hurts much less than the toothache it is curing.

It's going to sound horrible but in a root canal they use these little metal tools to remove the root from the infected tooth. Its called a root canal because they go in and clean the actual root canal. I had one twice, on the same tooth, they gave me shot before i got it and that was the only pain i felt and it wasnt too bad. Other than that it just feels wierd. Good luck, I promise its not that bad. Its not fun, but its not bad.

It's not that big of a deal. Basically it means you had a REALLY bad cavity. So they drill a hole down into your tooth, take out the infected root, and stuff it. It hurts a little bit, but not too bad. The only part that was really difficult for me, is that you need to keep the tooth really clean for a coulpe of days while it heals. You can't eat anything with sugar and you need to brush your teeth right after you eat for 3-4 days. Other than that, its ok. Just take care of your teeth next time!

Ask your Parents to make sure you are seeing an experienced Dentist. One who has done this lots of times before.I was supposed to have this done recently and the Dentist was very inexperienced .It had to be abandoned and i went to another dentist .
