Thats the first time Ive hear d that. Usually if its got a black spot 98% of people think its got chow.
There are several breeds that have black/purple tongues and a hundred other variables as to why one might get a spot of color.

There may be breeds that include a black spot on the tongue as part of the breed standard, and thus a dog without this mark would not be conforming. But you can't assume the reverse is true, as clearly some breeds do NOT have black spots. And even if you see a black spot on a breed that requires one, it could just be luck, and the dog may still be a mix.

My mother is a dog breeder and seeing as many full bred dogs as i have i don't believe that is true. i have seen dogs with black dots on there tongues but i don't believe they have to be full bred to have a dot on there tongues.

No. But two dog breeds do require a full black tongue to be considered a pure bred, a chow and a shar pei.

No. Our local shelter is full of various types of mixed-breed dogs with one or more black dots on their tongues.

No, that's not remotely true!
A dog is only a purebred if it has registry papers. Black spots on the tongue are very common in mutts.

No this is not true. If the dogs mouth is black aka its gums and the top part of its mouth then it is a full bred.
