Think about the many countries and continents on our planet and the bodies of water that separates them. Where would you build an underwater tunnel if you could ? Tell what places you would want to connect and why an underwater tunnel would be a good way to do it.

The Bering Strait, would connect Asia and the Americas and would make it technically possible to travel from Cape Horn to the Cape of Good Hope without ever taking a boat or a plane.

An underwater tunnel would be good because an overground route (bridge) would be too cold and and dangerous in the Winter.

Think about this for a second: Once any underwater tunnel crosses one of the Earth's plate boundaries it is doomed and will be destroyed by the next major earthquake in the vicinity of the crossing location.

In cities with peninsulas and creeks, under straigths separating continents.

Basicly there is one good solution for them: once they´re dug, a huge plastic tube is inflated at high temperature to completely seal the tunnel making it water proof, even if an earthquake occurs.
