I associate with him. Everybody talks about his smell, and he knows it because he has to hear them. Sometimes when he comes around people say "whats that smell!" Whats the best way to break it to him?

It seems like he knows and does not care.

Are you sure it is something he has control over?

Is it more offensive than the maggot-gagging aroma of cologne or perfume that some people seem to apply with a paint roller?

You don't specify what the smell is like. Perhaps he has an unfortunate condition, or perhaps as is often the case, people who are so unused to physical exertion that the keep the temp. in the office about 10 degrees higher than it should be.

It could be the result of diet. Most people who eat "fast" food on a regular basis tend to smell a little funky.

Sometime when you two are talking without anyone else around, ask him if he is aware he has an odor. Try to do it as if you are concerned for his health. Funky BO can be a sign of illness.

If he smells because he's a smoker than tell him he needs to wash his clothes a little better.

Have everyone pitch in and get him a shower kit/gift basket. I don't see what's the big deal about telling it to his face if it's that bad. It's rude for him to put everyone in that situation I be like hey you really need to do something about that smell, I'm having a hard time concentrating on work.

Sounds like he's not getting the message already. Complain to the boss. The boss needs to counsel him and tell him to clean up or find a new job.
Or you and you're other co-workers can start leaving things like soap and deodorant on his desk.

Lol. Why break it to him? If you have an office desk, get one of those air puffer things. The sweet smell will wash (cover) the smells. As if the smells just melt away.......

Create a new e-mail account with his name on yahoo or something and send it to his work e-mail address all day with random messages. You could include links about deodarant, toothpaste, personal hygiene; this may straighten out the problem a bit!

If not, it will drive her crazy having e-mails coming in to her from herself! Use the computers at your local library.

Tell him that, contrary to the old Elmer Fudd cartoon, Smellovision is never gonna replace television.

If that's not clear enough, hit him with a hose.

talk to the boss and as the BOSS it is his duty to tell the guy. simply say that it has gone on for too long now and its really just unhygienic. tell him ur not the only one that feels that way, that other ppl. are just starting to make rude comments behind his back......its better to address the issue this way (although it sounds harsh) than ppl. just talking crap behind his back n nothing getting solved.

There is no nice way to tell someone that they stink. Get to the point and say that he needs to go home and wash his nasty ****. Tell him you are sick to death of the odor.
