i am not saying he is,and i am not saying he's not.but u make a very good point.
the only thing that i can really see that might be a benfit to kyle is that his dad is still alive.allthough it does not help him win or even finish races.2 top tens last year.but he still does have his fathers guidence per say.w/o that kyle would be sitting on a couch somewhere.
i should have said this first...people allways want to compare father to son, brother to brother, and so on.it is not fair to compare kyle to richard or jr to sr.these are 4 totally different people.each their own person.
now back to where i was.jr started racing full time in 2000,he has 17 wins 69 top fives and 109 top tens.those are not shabby numbers by no means.
but i do know where u are coming from with ur post.it seems as though he has let some of the fire go.well all i can say is if things at DEI do not straighten out in a hurry,he will find himself on the outside looking in and wondering for the rest of his career what would it be like to be a champion in the nextel series

I am not a Dale Jr. fan,,,however I respect all drivers for the way the put thier life on the line in every race. I think that Dale is a good driver, but not a great driver. His stats show that. He could have done a lot better had he either started his own company or went to work for Childers. His relationship with his S-Momma has never been very good and when Daddy was killed, it even got worse. I hate to see a good talent like him not having 3 or 4 wins per year. He is in a rut and I hope he gets out of it soon. Kyle was never a very good driver,,it's not easy to always follow in the footsteps of your Daddy.

No I don't believe you can categorize Jr as another Kyle Petty. First of all Jr has more wins that Petty, even though he has raced alot fewer years than Kyle. I think the passion is still there to race for Dale, where I dont think Kyle still has the care to race. Kyle does so much with charity that I think that is his true love now, not racing. If there was one guy I wouldn't mind seeing check into victory lane its Kyle Petty, great guy who certainly deserves it. Believe Jr will try and find ways to revamp his career and that may mean leaving DEI.

Dale JR. is a far better driver than Petty. He is struggling because of poor team management by his step mother. And maybe due to the stress and emotions that revolve around that. But JR. has had to earn his respect. Hes more to Nascar than just his fathers namesake. Dale SR. never handed anything to to him, he made him fight and learn and gain acceptance the hard way, like most everyone else. The only thing that sr. was willing to hand over to jr. was the one thing that is being kept from him now. DEI. Inc. You can imagine the animosity. It has to be effecting his performance, in some way. But I think that soon, either teresa will have to hand over control to JR, or he will realize that he needs to move on to excel in the sport. And when either one of those things happen, look out nascar Because here he comes!

LOL.... Man, You got the JR fans FIRED UP with this question!! ROTF! Man, This crap just made my day.... Anyways... To answer your question - I think the answer may be YES if he stays with DEI. DEI has far from produced any championship contending cars, more or less race winning cars WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT. Another thought here is JR would have majority ownership w/ DEI and be driving for them too.. Right?! Ok, How many successful driver/owners do you know of? Especially, Talking about 3 car TEAM! Not 1 or 2 car.. (for all you Kulwicki fans) It will never work.. Give Jr DEI and the team still fails miserably in the future. So, If Jr doesn't want to be the next long haired hippie running in the back.. He better shape up, and find a different team! Maybe RCR like everyone else wants.. Or maybe he will look @ Ginn Racing, or HOF Racing.. That'd be something! I'd like to see him in that #96 TEXAS INSTRUMENTS DLP CHEVROLET! Atleast he'd still be CHEVY POWERED

No, I think Junior has more talent and passion than Petty. Plus the Pettys insisted on using old school garage and going cheap. They only recently decided to move to Charlotte. They didn't pay their people and ran things like Richard's dad Lee did in the old days. That hurt Kyle's chances when he was driving for them. Plus Kyle never had the fan base or passion for racing that his dad did.

Junior inherited his dad's fan base and loves to drive and compete. He won't be as good as his dad (only 1 or 2 guys can claim to challenge Earnhardt in history), but I believe he will be okay. He is one of the top 10 drivers on the circuit and most popular.

Dale Jr has 17 wins and is 39th all time in wins in 7 years.
Kyle Petty has 8 wins and is 57th all time in 28 years.

So I don't think that Jr is in the twilight of his career just yet. I think that you will see a turnaround in Jr's performance as soon as DEI gets all of it's issues worked out, hopefully similar to what Richard Childress Racing went through.

No. Dale Earnhardt Jr is a much better driver than Kyle Petty ever was.

no way, he is the son of the greatest racer of all time, and yes you could argue that"THE KING" is right up there with him, and i would agree, but Jr. has racing in his blood, that boy was just born to race, as far as Kyle Petty is concerned i think any success he had in the past was just a fluke, I'm glad Bobby is part of Richard Pettys team but i sure wish Kyle wasn't, he's a bit of an embarrassment

Yea i would have to agree with others im not much of a Earnhardt fan but he has proven he can drive with the best of them when he has the equipment, to bad his owner is to greedy to give him good racing equipment i think he has like 17 or 18 wins to Pettys 4 or something just a guess. Earnhardt has talent Petty just races cause his dad was the king.
