I have bought them green, hung them from banana trees, and kept them separated form other fruit, and they still turn brown rather quickly. Any suggestions or ideas.

you can't it's a golden rule that bananas turn brown within a few days. you can try buying them super super green and going to the store a couple times a week instead of one huge shop once a week.

Keep them out of sunlight, and cool, i.e. away from major appliances. Keep them away from other fruits that produce gases that hasten ripening. Hanging them from a hook prevents soft spots from forming where they touch a container. Never put them in the refrigerator; that would turn them brown in hours.

I usually go shopping every 3 days so, I buy 3 Bananas ...one almost green, the other almost ready to eat, and the other one ripe. It works for me.

You can keep good ventilation, cool, dry area... and don't keep them down, just hang them in rope.

My mother use to put something in its top.. i really forgot.

Also, don't separate them, keep as a bunch...

eat them..but what ever you do..do not freeze them! they turn brown faster that way. best thing to do..put them in a paper bag with a few oranges..they'll last longer.
