I dont have dandruff, because i use head and shoulders to prevent it. i have no idea what else it could be. I hope that when i go get my hair dyed 2night that that will help! Do u have any answers for this problem???

I'm not sure why this happens.. head and shoulders doesn't always work though, but I doubt it's dandruff.

Nervous itch? Allergy? Maybe you've been thinking about lice and all that so now it's in your subconscious mind and it's a psychological thing where you scratch your head without knowing thats the reason.

It a very broad question and there could be a number of answers.
1/ Is it only your head that itches? If not then:-
2/ Are you using any new washing powder for your clothes as residues on your pillow case can cause irritation?
3/ Have you changed or started taking any medications including the pill as these can also cause irritations.
If it is only your head that itches then again it could be a number of things.
1/Head and Shoulders is a very strong shampoo which strips layers of skin off. Too much usage of it can cause irritation. Use a professional hair shampoo from a salon if you want the best thing for your scalp and hair.
2/Does your mum know what to look for when she looks for lice? What she needs to look for are tiny almost see through blobs on your hair anywhere along the hair shaft.
3/ If this itching persists then you should see a doctor because high blood pressure can also cause an itchiness.
4/You could have psoriasis which is a skin problem that causes itchiness. Look for redness on the scalp usually found wherever you have hair.
I hope this has helped some but as i said it could be many things and without seeing exactly what is going on i cannot say exactly.
Good luck.
VERY IMPORTANT! If your head itches and your scalp looks red then i do not advise you have a colour done.

I agree with the allegy answers. Otherwise, Head and Shoulders may not be working. That could be what's irritating your head. Try Salon Blue. It's less irritating. If you dye your hair often, use T/Gel Daily Control Dandruff Shampoo by Neutrogena. It's safe for color treated hair. Otherwise, like the other answers, try an allegy medication.

dry skin/scalp.

don't get an all over (on the scalp) color if you've been scratching it. it will BURN! (feels like your head is on fire and it could actually blister- seriously!)

* instead of scratching try pulling on your hair.
* when you shampoo your hair towel dry it before conditioning it and make sure to condition your root/scalp area. oil and water don't mix, so if you add conditioner to wet hair it won't penetrate so it can't work.
* sleep with deep conditioner in once or twice a week (3 times only if it's a huge problem that needs fixed quickly) and rinse out in the morning. blow dry.
* get scalp massages for good circulation - moms are great at it!
* make sure you are rinsing out all the shampoo

I agree maybe it is an allergy to something I would take some benadryl and see if that makes a difference.

allergic reaction or skin sensitivity? Sometimes is not as easy to see these things on your scalp. If you have skin sensitivity dying your hair might make it worse.....i dont know.

that happend to me! you may have ringworm. it sounds gross, but i had it and all you do is go to the doctor and they give you this cream to get rid of it. look ringworm up on the web and find the symptoms.
