Make democracy direct. Citizens decide everything - with information technology exploding, this is possible now - interfaces on governance can be extended to be controlled by every citizen. Citizens decide what the government should do, what should be the priorities, how much should be done etc. Since there are no middlemen, business cartels and criminals will find it hard to push their way through. By the time such cartels succeed in getting a majority after bribing, they will surely go bankrupt. Nice idea, isn't it. Sadly, this is the only way out, and those in power will just not agree to it. Their *politics* will be clearly visible as they attempt to defend *representative governance*.

I remember to have read sometime back , in a magazine '' LIES,ABSOLUTE LIES and POLITICS''

So, that is what Politics realy means.

Did you not hear ''Don't play politics here''.....What does that mean. The Politics have stooped down to such an irrepairable level , that it is futile to think of a trail even.

That being the case, your intention to see honest politicians is welcome. When is one honest, tell me?
Generally a well educated, good cultured and Broad minded person who is not greedy and is content with what he has, and who has still the natural instinctive humane reactions May be honest.
In the society we are living where from the Politicians are coming? What is their background? What is the way they are entering into politics? What is the role of MONEY MAINLY IN THIS?.Has any morals, scruples etc are existing in traces atleast?Look at whereever in the world.......Is there any HONEST POLITICAL COUNTRY which you dream about?

Some countries are worse ,some are Bad and some are BETTER.Thats all.

So only thing you can hope for is a betterment and less corruption ,less nepotism, less muscle power ,less violence.

You can have a good Government if all ,or atleast a majority in the Govt. are good.So they should come into politics through a good path...not by money power or by muscle power.
Certain people compete for a seat....that we are seing. In those people some times we see good people too.But after elections are over and votes are counted what percentage these good people get.?.Less than 1 or 2%.( even that is much expectation...)why?We are seing great Police protection, para military presence, vigilance officers,so many reforms.....but still we hear words ' Money power,Muscle ower,Rigging etc etc'.

If as you asked in your question, atleast can we make a dent?

Gentleman, first let us all understand that UNLESS ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE VOTING ARE EDUCATED IN A GOOD WAY AND HAVE SOME MORAL VALUES,and ALL THE PEOPLE COMPETING IN THE POLITICS TOO ARE ATLEAST GRADUATES IN SOME DISCIPLINE AND HAVE A GOOD CONDUCT AND CHARACTER, we may not expect to make a dent.
Ponder over this point please...did we have at any time a Majority Government?
6 people stand in the election in a constituency.

The total elecorate is ,say 100,000.(one Lakh)(assume)

The votinng 60% in this case (assume)

'A' gets 8000 valid voted and similarly B,C,D,E all get 8000 votes.
the sixth candidate getd 20000 votes,,,AND HE IS THE LEGALLY ELECTED PUBLIC REPRESENTATIVE OF THAT CONSTITUENCY.

REALLY?

Out of 100,000 voters there he represents 20 %..That means HE IS NOT REPRESENTING 80% of the public(voters)there?
Is representating a majority or minority? Is he really the REPRESENTATIVE?

So are the laws.

Let us pray to almighty to BETTER the situation.

If all electorate is educated, then there may be a change...that seems to be a dream.Let us pray that dream comes true.

1. There should be minimum academic qualification for the Candidates as well as Voters.
2. The voters who do not vote for any two (May be local, State or central) consecutive elections should be debarred from voting in the net elections.
3. A candidate elected should be thoroughly checked for his present property and assets, if he gains more than expected he / she should be debarred from further contesting elections.
4. A person who joins 1 political party should not be allowed to change that party for at least next 10 years to avoid horse trading.
5. The public should be given a choice to callback their candidate if he is found involved in any type of corruption.
This may not be possible but if implemented in stages nothing is impossible.

Start a company that makes political baseball cards with their stats on the back. Create a Congressional Hall of Fame for those who most closely vote the wishes of their constituents while upholding the intent of the Constitution.

Well there's a real oxymoron for you. Honest and politics in the same sentence...lol. I agree with the person that stated we could start with Barack Obama. It's time for some big changes and I think he's a step in the right direction.

Besides who can resist the songs that were played at the end of his Feb. speech...Jackie Wilson "Your Love Keeps Lifting Me, Higher and Higher"...and of course "Shout" I was pumped!

Make all civil service jobs union, then if a supervisor gives a false negative or false positive eval. fire them on the spot. This will end politics at the Governmental I.E. government employee level.

This would help a lot trust me,

because elected officals place their worseless spoiled off-spring and friends in gov. and then actaul employess have to carry their lazy corpses. It is communism and has no place in America, gut the politicals and you will have a good start.

We could and in my opinion should eliminate special interests by having x amount of dollars available to all canidates...and only x amount and have accurate and independent over seers to keep on eye on them and make sure there are no more contributions from special interest groups or individuals.....i think that would make a big fat dent in all the lies and false promises....JMO
