NASA has no microscope that can see billiions of light years away. Also the universe is ENORMOUS and growing (evolutionists believe it and the bible says it) so just to inform you God did put planets in other areas of the universe. If there are planets billions of years away, i believe the bible when it says God put them there. There is also no way scientist can messure how long light has been traveling and also light does slow down science has proven (not just creationists).

I feel some of the answerers need some clarification, because apparently they failed elementary Astronomy. See quote below
"6000 light years is how long it would take man to travel to the stars. God is already there and has been since before the beginning"
A LIGHT-YEAR is the distance light can travel in a year. Example; the sun is 8 light seconds from us. So it takes light from the sun 8 seconds to be visable to the eye. If the sun were ever to explode, we wouldn't know it for 8 seconds. This is why scientists can study supernovas that happened thousands of years ago.
Airman- We really can measure that far away. http://www.theregister.com/2005/09/12/furthest_gamma_ray_burst/
also you shot yourself in the foot there. As you say light slows down..which would make it take LONGER to reach us.

I belive in creationism, but I do believe the world is billions of years old. But I see no connection between the 6000 light years away and the 6000 years.

See.. the point here is that if they were farther than 6000 lightyears away, we wouldn't be able to see them yet.
Easy answer: The universe is many billions of years old. Closest estimates are 4.5-5 billion years I think.

You are judging everything by the capability of man. God transcends time and the Bible God's Word says that God is light and there is no darkness in Him nor shadow of turning. In the book of Daniel it took the angels 21 days to get to Daniel because they were fighting Satan's princes.. They came from heaven which isn't in this universe so there is a way to get through the universe in God's light very quickly. God just hasn't let man know how to do it as yet. But He promised us in the latter days that knowledge would increase so just maybe if you get your heart right that He will give you the desires of your heart.
The knowledge to answer your question.

Huh? What? The universe is guessed to be between 11.2 and 20 billion years old.
But hey, what's a mere difference of ten or twelve billion years, just among us scientists?

There aren't too many people who think the universe is only a few thousand years old. The ones who do aren't very intelligent, so why would you waste your time asking them such questions? If just to make fun of their answers, that is not very nice.

Humans have been on earth over 6,000 years. The earth and the universe which contain it may be billions of years old. Fossils and archaeological evidence prove that fact.
