My second daughter is 3 weeks old. (oldest is 7). I'm starting to think about my birth control options so I will be prepared when I go for the 6 week appointment with my OB. Just looking for your opinions on the different options. Here is some extra info that may help you out.
+ not looking to get pregnant again for probably 2 or 3 years
+ have a hard time remembering to take the pill everyday
+ Cost obviously plays a huge factor
+ i am larger- so the patch isn't really an option (i've read it doesn't work if you're more than like 40lbs overweight?)[ or am i totally wrong?]
+ i've only ever been on the pill- used condoms- or went by ovulation dates....

What are your experiences with different methods? What did you like? What didn't you like?

there is a new IUD called the Merena, it has been used in Europe for years and is very effective, with this form of birth control it is good for 5 to 7 yrs, there are fewer side effects with this and you don't get a period with this! You don't have to worry about weight gain either

I was on Depo for a few years and I hated it. It made me gain weight like crazy (about 5 lbs every 3 months with nothing else changing). I am currently on Mirena, and I love it. It is good for 5 years, but it is immediately reversible if you decide you want more children. It can shorten and lighten your periods. I haven't had one at all since August! It is also more effective than sterilization. I think it is pretty pricey, but most Planned Parenthoods and county health departments have a sliding fee scale. If you decide you want it, they will help you get it. Just so you know, pills aren't as effective if you are overweight. The last study I read said they don't work as well if you are over 150lbs. I had many of the same issues, and I am glad I decided to get Mirena. Just check out the website. It should help you make a decision.

Good luck.

I have the mirena IUD because I can't remember to take a pill and I hated the patch. The IUD has it's good days and bad days. Sometimes sex is painful, like when it's close to the end of my cycle. I haven't had a "period" in 3 years... it makes it lighter or you don't have one at all. It's nice. Just a little painful when the Dr. puts it in. Look into it. The benefits outweigh the problems.

Depo Provera is a shot you take every 3 months in the hip or arm. I used it before I got pregnant with the first child. I was on it for about 2 1/2 years and then got off and waited 6 months to try to have a baby and bingo I got prego right away and no problems.

My adventure is do no longer purchase into everybody else's courtroom circumstances-same to any being pregnant is distinct for distinct human beings so is birth control. searching round for undesirable section outcomes will purely make you stressful to attempt it. that is only a tribulation and mistake ingredient. merely undergo in options in case you do go searching for human beings's thoughts that maximum human beings that're pleased with something do not contact upon it in any respect. those who're unhappy seem for motives to ***** =)
