We are stying in NYC for two days before we go on a cruise. I want to be at the cruise terminal by 2:30. We have to check out at the hotel by 11:00am, so we are going to spend more time checking out NYC while we wait to go the the cruise ship, what will we do with our luggage while we are touring around.

Your hotel will store your luggage for a few hours after you check out; to be safe, phone the hotel and have them confirm this. There isn't anything to see in the area of the cruise ships; stay in the area of your hotel. Be sure to allow enough time to get you to the terminal in time (so you can stand on long lines for hours). Hope you're heading into better weather than we have in New York today. Have a great trip.

The best thing to do would be to either leave your bags at your hotel, or find out from the cruise lines how early you can leave your luggage there.

Most hotels will have a storage room to leave your bags in, which is safe and easy.

If your hotel is not in a convenient location, the best thing to do is to go to the ship early and then go sightseeing from there. NYC does not have public lockers anywhere.

You can try the Port Authority Bus terminal. I know they used to have lockers (pre 911). They may still. Its at 42st between 8 ave and 9 ave, which may be near your ship if its leaving from the West Side piers. Check out the Port Authority of NY/NJ site. Maybe there is a contact number to see if the lockers are still there.
Some hotels may hold your luggae for you though, I'd obviously check that option first!
