someone who a child can rely upon, depend upon, trust, someone who provdes a clean and safe environment for them to grow. Someone who enables them to learn and achieve but at the same time allow them independence. Most importantly...a good parent is one who will allow the children to leave the nest with no interference...just support.

The ideal parent realistically, is a parent who
Loves their children
who fears God
Love themselves
Who makes mistakes and learn from them
who teach their children about life, love, relationship, ect
who can learn from their children
humble person
patience or willing to learn to be patience.
This is my opinion!
The greatest opinion I got from my Kids!
When they want to be around a lot, even teenagers
they introduce you to their friends and their friends like you
Kids tell you they LOVE YOU and give you the tightest hug
Kids write you love notes or thank you notes draw you pictures I am talking about pre-tee and teenagers.
YOU know you are doing something RIGHT!

A parent should be mentally healthy and have high moral values. Have high self esteem. Be married to a person they respect and value. Be educated and willing and happy to dedicate his/her life to you. A parent should do all they can to strive that your life will be better than there's. The only real purpose in life, is to procreate and leave ones genes for the hopefully a better future.

I like to think that I am. My son had distinct boundaries that he knows not to cross, and if he does I am stern with him, I holler but never hit. He hates time out in his room and that is where he goes. But other than that I am loose with him. He is allowed to be a crazy 2 1/2 year old with in those boundaries. I dont think he should be sheltered from things, life is a fish bowl of different experiences and unless it will harm him he needs to live life and experience things for himself.

The ideal parent is one whom you know at all times you could go to them about any problem and they'd listen. They wouldn't be judgemental.
