Good question. The trilogy, (God in 3 persons/entities) Father, Son and Holy Spirit is hard to explain to some. For the prophecies to be fulfilled, Christ had to die upon the cross, for the redemption of mankind, God's children. For this to happen, God walked the earth in the flesh by being a man himself. If you recall in the garden of Eden, God walked the Earth for Adam and Eve hid from Him. For Christ to redeem mankind, he felt the weight of sin of his lifetime among men. He cried out to the Father, upon the cross/tree, was to say, it is time, my duty is done, do not forsake me and remove this weight. Christ knew he was never alone and it was written long ago what must occur. Your answer is His love for you.

Jesus' obedience to the Father to the point of death was sufficient to restore our relationship with the Father and absolve us of our sins, but that was only part of what the Father wanted His Son to accomplish.
The second part of what Jesus had to accomplish was to defeat death and to give us everlasting life. In order for this to happen, Jesus had to die on the cross. Without the death, there would have been no resurrection.

Jesus Christ died so all man can be saved.
Sure it is painful for God the Father, but without Jesus Christ's sacrifice, all mankind would be lost.
The question should be, do we accept Christ's sacrifice, or do we still dwindle in unbelief.

Simple. It had to be done so that there would be BLOOD shed for the remission of sins that was freely given and freely received, instead of TAKEN from a sacrifice (animal) that couldn't freely give itself.

He didn't. He turned his back on Him. God cannot look upon sin, and Jesus became sin for us. Otherwise God would have to turn His back on you. Remember "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me."?
