If you've already got it, you need to treat it. It's hard to treat if it gets involved in your toenails/nailbeds. There is a prescription called Lamisil that is extremely expensive - about 10 dollars a pill, and you need to take one a day every day for at least 3 months. There are home remedies as well, and creams like Lamisil that are way less expenisve than the pills, especially if the nails are not involved. But it's best to prevent it by wearing shower shoes if you ever shower in a public shower, like at the gym.

Are you talking about Athlete's Foot? If so, there are many good OTC remedies. Also, once you're gotten rid of the fungus, remember to do the following:

1. Dry your feet completely after showering (in between toes, too).
2. Go barefoot around the house when you can. Air circulation will discourage fungi growth.
3. Wear absorbent socks when exercising. There are specialty running socks that wick moisture away from the feet.

Good luck.

I've had the same problem for years as I play a lot of soccer. I had heard about spraying hydrogen peroxide on the nails morning and night for a month or two. Unfortunately, I have seen no improvement with this method. I have heard of the Vicks vapor rub treatmeant before as well. I have also heard of using Apple Cider Vinegar to treat it and also a product called "Miracle Cure" that makes natural treatments for various minor ailments. I plan on trying the Vinegar treatment next. Good luck.

After working for a foot doctor I thought I might be able to help you out but the first two people that responded said it all. Be persistent with your routine of care. These funguses are relentless.
