I've never had to have ear drops before and there's no one really about to help.

For instance to they need to go right into the ear canal, how long should the drops stay in my ears (do I walk around with my head on my shoulder all night etc).

I'd appreciate any advice.

Thank you

There were no instructions with the bottle - only a list of allergies and the ingredients - otherwise I wouldn't have needed to ask!

To start, have a mirror ready so you can see that you are actually aiming for your ear. After administering the drops, keep your head sideways just for a minute to ensure the drops reach the inner ear. Then put a small cotton ball in your ear to keep the drops from seeping out. (chances are, they will be deep enough in the ear canal to not come back out. But better to be safe than sorry.)

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon! ;)

Assuming it's something like Floxin for an infection of the ear canal, you should lie down on your bed with only one relatively flat pillow. Lie on your left side. With your right hand, administer the proper number of drops into your right ear. Massage the front of your ear until you can feel the drops all the way into the ear. Rest in this position for at least five minutes. Place a cotton ball into the outer area of the ear (don't push it INTO the ear canal)

Roll over... repeat. Ideally you could do this last thing before bed, and then just sleep for a while on that second side. Next night, start on the opposite side and that way at least every other night, each ear is getting a longer treatment time.

If you have to do them in the morning, just remember that most of them will say on the bottle... but usually require 5 to 10 minutes before being upright with risk of drops trickling out.

Depending on what consistency the drops are if they trickle out. You certainly DO NOT have to walk around with your head on one side. Lay on your bed on your side and put the nozzle of the drops almost onto ear and by pressing on the bottle put in drops. Now swap sides and repeat. Once they in, they will be beneficial even if a little trickles out. DO NOT put cotton wool or any other material into your ear !!!!Be sure to complete the course !!!!!
You may like to try how hard you have to press the bottle for the amount you need BEFORE the procedure, just as a pre-run. Good Luck and hope your ear condition improves rapidly.

Not sure about the time they stay in *although you can always get a pinch of cotton and put it in your ear to hold the drops in and keep they off your clothes.*

However, a really good way to get the drops down into the ear canal is to lift the top of your ear when putting the drops in. This opens the ear canal all the way.

Good luck.

Silly billy, do one ear and put cotton wool in it and then do the other one and put cotton wool in that one too, then go straight to bed and try to lie flat on your back all night. Don't engage in sex coz that will make the cotton wool fly out most probably, I think, I imagine. Don't forget to take the cotton wool out in the morning otherwise you'll think you're getting worse.

Read the instructions on the (eardrop) pack. As the old saying goes, if all else fails read the instructions.
