You're both wrong. McGirt was a much better fighter than Roach when they were boxers in the 80s and early 90s and as trainers they each have unique styles. I think Oscar probably picked Roach due to his success with the offensive minded Manny Pacquiao. McGirt is more of a defensive trainer if you notice with guys like Antonio Tarver. Some offense yes but a clear focus on defense. I am a huge De La Hoya fan and I would love to see him win on May 5th but stylewise it is not a good fight for him. period. Shane Mosley beat Oscar twice, and Floyd is faster and better defensively than Shane. Floyd wins an uneventful fight 9 or 10 rounds to 2 or 3 for Oscar, if that. Yes, Floyd is and will be on May 5th, that good.

I could only speculate. McGirt likes the limelight and Oscar might not want to share that. Freddie Roach is about the fighter, not showing everyone how much he knows about boxing. Or, in my opinion, Freddie Roach is just more knowledgeable and maybe Oscar sees that.

Seriously, I think Roach can impress upon Oscar the importance of attacking Mayweather's body EFFECTIVELY. In my opinion it's the only way De La Hoya wins the fight.

I dont know. All I know is Freddie Roach didnt do anything for tyson when he trained him. Tyson showed up out of shape.
