I am certain that you mean elevated liver enzymes. If someone has elevated liver enzymes it could stem from many, many things. I am not going to start listing them here because I do not want to put ideas in folks heads unnecessarily, and scare them. If a doctor sees that someone has elevated liver enzymes they would absolutely tell you and may give you an actual hands on physical and order more sophisticated and specific blood tests. It could be something as simple as an infection, and a round of antibiotics may be all a person needs. In short, this is not something to be ignored. Take it from someone who has, over the years, had elevated liver enzymes many times that it needs to be checked out. Without being preachy I have to say that anyone with elevated liver enzymes should totally eliminate their use of alcohol and recreational drugs until the diagnosis is made. Good luck to you!

It depends on how elevated. It could mean several things. It could be something as simple as your cholesterol is high and your liver is working harder then normal, maybe you have something known as "fatty liver". Or something more serious, are you being tested for HIV or hepatitis? Early signs show in the liver.

Also, have you begun taking any new medications? Alot of medications work off of the liver and as such can cause differences in your levels.

If I had more info I could be more specific. Talk to your doctor and don't be afraid to ask questions!!
