My husband bought me some 20" rims and tires for Christmas. BUt to put them on my explorer i needed some adapters (which costed like $250) so at the time we didn't have the money to buy the adapters. So what he did is put the rims on his daddy's truck so they wouldn't get stolen out of the yard. Now two weeks ago we went to get them off and now his daddy won't give them to us. He called to cops out there and sent a paper stating we are to stay off his property and away from him. Since then he has hid the truck. We are planning on filing a warrant what should I do? by the way there are 2 kids in the midst (my kids) that is choose not to see by doing all this and they aren't gonna understand (ages 2 and 3) Help...

He actually stole tires from his own son and family! safe tires that could be the difference life and death for the children! Please tell this arguement to a small claims judge.
The old man figures possesion is nine tenths of the law-but he is really displaying his lack for love for you all. Don't be too concerned about what the little ones say at the moment,, this is a big lesson in how he would be in their future and they are really better off not being around him.

Your stupidity in not storing the rims until you could use them may cost you at least a trip to small claims court where you can at least show a receipt for paying for the rims and explain what your intentions were at the time. At least under oath, he may just fess up to the fact you loaned them to him.

To me it looks it is you who has serious problems with your father-in-law! If he is not willing to talk to you and your husband, and if feel strongly enough about your property, you need to complain to the cops and let them do the search. But if you can afford to write it off, do that and be done with him. If he continues to give problem, you need to act.

If he won;t see his grandchildren over tires he is not a good influence for them. Count your blessings that you found out about this guy before he could hurt your kids. He's psycho.

Your hubby has to show proof he bought them and the police will make him give them back. UNLESS in your state there is a "storage" clause. In a state i use to live in, if something was in your possision for 60 days or more, it was considered YOURS!

can you not just give the old guy those rims and tires! if he can't see that your relationship has been affected by the incident... why not give in.
