I had a sales person at a national chain store tell me the price listed was the lowest she could go. She even let me walk out the store, maybe she was bluffing hoping I would come back soon. I know furniture mark up is huge, how can I get a fair deal? Say they are offering $1400, if I offer $1000 cash, will they be more willing to bite? Thanks in advance.

I've never had quite that large a reduction in price from a chain store. If the person you are talking with won't budge you can always ask to speak to a manager. Ask them to waive the delivery fees if you pay in full and try to get a smaller reduction in the price. It would also help if you could know comprable prices at other stores so you can sound like you know what you are talking about.

You should look for furniture warehouse sales & outlets ... they often have reasonably priced furniture for sale...it is not usual for ordinary stores to bargain with a customer .... that is a specialty of Middle-Easterners and Asians ..... but not Europe or USA ....

usually furniture places are not in the position to bargain. i never had any of them do it for me. unless it is used furniture. my advice for furniture anymore is buying the micro fiber material. stays cleaner and when you have little ones or a lot of company that gets it dirty it comes clean real clean real fast. good luck
