Actually, you can have your cat spayed while she is in heat but depending on the circumstances, your vet might opt to wait a few more days until she isn't in heat anymore.
I say that it can be done more so for the fact that while working at a pet shelter several years ago, it didn't matter if the cats were in heat or not... it didn't seem to make a difference that some of the kittens being altered weren't even weened yet... and some had even been pregnant!! I DON'T WORK THERE ANYMORE!!!
I did adopt a kitten before quiting and she'd only been 7 weeks when she was spayed. She almost didn't pull through but 8 years later, she's still here... trying to plop on my keyboard whenever she thinks she has a chance.
I personally wouldn't recommend spaying her at this time... rather wait a little longer for her to be done with her heat... hoping she doesn't slip out before its over only to have gotten pregnant. It costs a bit more to terminate a pregnancy during a spay... but it can be done. I personally couldn't do it... but she's your baby.

You know, I have ONLY heard from people on yahoo answers that its dangerous to the cat to spay it during its heat, I've never read it anywhere else or from an actual vet.
On the contrary, I have seen it performed on plenty of cats who were in heat on animal planet and so forth, so this whole "its dangerous to the cat" thing is either a myth, or an exaggeration. Any time you put a cat under anesthesia there's a danger, but I really doubt the cat being in heat has anything to do with it.
As long as the vet is reputable, and you properly take care of the cat, everything should be perfectly fine.

I know how you feel!!! It is so annoying! Yes you can. Just make an appointment and take her in. My cat stayed in heat for a week or so and I thought she was over it....but a week later she started up again! So I got her spayed.

YES YOU CAN. IT MAKES THE SURGERY MORE RISKY BECAUSE OF THE INFLAMMATION OF THE FEMALE ORGANS, THE TEND TO BLEED MORE IN SURGERY BECAUSE OF IT. SHE WILL HOW EVER STILL BE IN HEAT AFTER THE SURGERY FOR THE NORMAL HEAT CYCLE BE CAUSE THESE HORMONES TAKES AWHILE TO LEAVE THE BODY. SHE STILL MAY BREED WITH A MALE BUT UNABLE TO GET PREG. HOWEVER THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO HER. CATS STAY IN HEAT FOR ABOUT 3-7 DAYS. HAVING THE SURGERY MAY SHORTEN THE TIME. AND SOME VET DO CHARGE MORE IF THEY ARE IN HEAT.

i think so. a friend of mine had a cat that never went out of heat! and she got her spayed. my vet will even spay them if they're pregnant (seems kinda mean, depending on the situation, but they recommend it if the kitty got prego on 'accident' during her first or second heat when she's too young)

The heat cycle dosen't last long and your vet will advise you to wait until the cycle is over before the operation.

Some places do and some don't it just depends on the facility... call around =) ... you'll also need to get her vaccinated, you can do this when she is about to be spayed... I hope this was helpful!

I believe that the answer is no. Most vets will want to wait until she is out of heat.
