The Marine Corps is primarily designed to be light, quick and deadly. Most of their missions revolve around their ability to react quickly, strike hard and move on.

The Army is a much larger force. While some of the missions overlap with the Marines, the Army is heavier, better equipped and can bring massive firepower, logistical support and manpower to the effort.

Neither is better they are designed for different tasks. Now if you are deciding which to join, that depends on your own goals. The discipline in the Marines is more intense and the fighting capability of an individual Marine is greater because the force is smaller. However, the chance for advancement is much less.

The Army has far more opportunity for advancement and many more diverse opportunities to learn skills that are valuable outside of the military.

Depends on how you define "better".

Combat readiness: Marines
Miscellaneous usefulness: Army

I see the Army as being more diversified, having a lot more members and as a result a great deal more duties that need doing. If I need an a$$ kicked, I'll call the Marines. If I need a city occupied and kept in order, give the Marines a break and call the Army.

I don't know if there's a whole lot of truth to that, but it's my impression.

Depends on what you mean as better!

The Army is the oldest service and does the bulk of the fighting and the dieing! I would say many groups in the Army are as good or better than any Marne outfit! That includes the Special Forces, Airborne Rangers and black opsI I believe people in the army also attend Navy Seal Training!

Do you even need to ask? The Marines

Now you cant really compare the two very well; the Corps is a fantastic invasion force while the Army is a good occupying force.

Different jobs for the same cause, it simply depends on your personality and what clicks better with it. I firmly believe in giving my Marine counterparts a hard time, inter Military rivarly, but when it comes down to it I respect them as I do my fellow Soldiers.

A Soldier was running thru the desert with his rifle sounding off "Be all that you can BE!", God didn't like this so he took away half his intelligence, again he started running and yelling "Be all that you can Be!" God was angered and took away all his intelligence, he stopped, very bewildered and started running again singing "From the Halls of Montezuma. To the Shores of Tripoli"
