Unfortunately this kind of thing happens all too often. How long has it been since you sent the money to them? Did you fill out an application or receive any loan disclosures such as a Good Faith Estimate or Truth in Lending ? If you filled out a loan application it is federal law that these documents be provided to you within 3 days of the date you signed the application. You said you have not heard from them but have you tried to call their office and talk to someone about your loan? If you are unable to contact the company at all (phone disconnected, non-existent etc) call the police immediately. They will direct you to the proper authorites for this type of thing in your particular state. If you have been able to reach someone but cannot get a straight answer haul yourself down to their office (if it is possible) and ask the questions in person. Tell them you will not leave until you have your loan approval or your 5,000 dollars. If you still cannot get a satisfactory answer, call an attorney.

I too was going to get a loan from them. They told me I was approve for $5000 but I have to pay them $900 before I get the money. I went on bbb to check them out and found out this company is not a member but they don't have any info about the company (complaint wise, etc). Here's the info I got so far if you want any more info about them.. I decided not to go through it cause this company sounds shady to me...
I'm sorry for the the people who got scammed with this company. Hopefully you will have your money returned.
