The oven chips are already coated with oil so they are ready to cook without adding more oil.

Oven chips are cooked in the oven - Much healtier option
Frying chips are done in a deep fat fryer or chip pan

I'm not sure if there is any difference surely they are just frozen potatoes

I cooked frying chips in the oven once without realising and they did not taste nice - kind of soggy so there probably is some sort of difference

the oven chips have a layer of oil so that when the oven heats up the oil acts like a fryer would and makes them crispy

The fry chips don't have this so are soggy when made in the oven

Over chips taste like sh1t and real 'fry em' type chips don't. So buy the real ones, they are just frozen chipped potatoes, with no additives or coating. OK, so you need to fry them, but at least they taste like chips and not some form of over-processed stuff.

The oven chips must be coated with something to make them turn brown, probably some kind of fat, whereas the frying chips get coated in fat when you fry them
