Hello - Great question-asker!

I believe that people attack, criticize, and scrutinize this most Holy and righteous life manual because of man's two greatest fears: Not being in power and the lack of understanding. Man's greed and selfishness for absolute power and the need to utilize logic (the desire to know EVERYTHING) has caused a barrier between him and God. Satan has come to kill, steal, and destroy, and he's obviously taken some followers along with him.

When religious people accepted the view of modernism that the scientific method was the only means to determine what is true, they were left with the dilemma of proving the historical and scientific validity of the bible. Religious truths are not like the proofs of scientific rationalism; they are more like the intuitive insights of poetry, art, and music. Religious truths and scientific proofs should be treated differently, as conflating them only results in bad religion and bad science. If religious people maintained the separation of the mythical/mystical from science, there wouldn't be so many attacks; most of the recent attacks are based in claims that the bible is accurate as either a history book or a science book.

Ok here goes.....
It may be the "most popular" but it is also responsible for more blood shed than works such as the Mein Kamp which are held in low regard. It has been used as an excuse for such attrocities as the holy crusades. Whenever a work becomes entangled with such a dark past there will be backlash.

the relationship between Christian Theology and reason has traditionally been an quite close one. listed lower than are a view of the large names and a precis of their perspectives on reason and the religion. Saint Augustine of Hippo (354-430) Augustine concept that that the bible might want to no longer be taken actually if it contradicts our medical expertise and our reason. Saint Anslem of Canterbury(1033-1109) Spent his existence attempting to strengthen a reasoned view of Christian Theology. St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) St. Aquinas held very strongly that if faith teaches something it truly is hostile to reason then the religious preparation is contained in the incorrect. at the same time as the truthfully answer on your question is a thesis in itself, if no longer a existence of analysis, i can pin down one call for you at present. Søren Kierkegaard (1813-1855) Søren, accepted as 'the daddy of Existentialism' is the (philosophical) father of the concept God won't be able to be accepted by reason, (as that would want to avert faith), and so the purely thanks to be kept replaced into by taking an "bounce of religion." That time period replaced into popularized by Søren, and also you've probable heard it many situations because then. So, in case you want a acceptance, there it truly is. in case you want a time, that is the previous 2 hundred years. it truly is, for sure, no longer the purely ingredient Existentialism screwed up, yet it truly is an answer for a distinct question. We are more aware due to media and Internet. No longer do
we just accept what we're told, we question and search for our
own inner truths. The Bible and many ancient prophesy predicted
this time referring to it as the Great Cleansing, New Earth, End Times, Ascension .......it is when the human species steps into a newenergy and evolves to the next level. Astrology and Physics are also theorizing these changes., they're natural process of the universe.

Critical analysis of the Bible has become more acceptable as methods for such analysis have grown. We can now gauge the age of various books by style and grammar. We can compare what is written in the Bible to archaeological evidence. We can compare older manuscripts to modern Bibles and see how they've changed. We can examine pre-Biblical writings and mythologies and see how they compare to Biblical writings. You may see this as an attack, I see it as enriching the Bible by giving us greater understanding.

1. Because the book in question contains barbarism and cruelty on an epic scale.
2. Because it flies in the face of so much reality, it baffles those who have a rational streak.
3. Because it's been used as the basis for so much chicanery.
4. It is obviously the product of primitive, ignorant minds.

And you have to be a dogmatic cherry-picker not to see these obvious characteristics of the book.

It's fantasy to some, and a contradiction to Capitalism to others. Noone strives to make their lives more difficult, and, as such, we try to succeed. In real life, when you have a Ferrari and a million dollars in your trunk, you are a success. Calling money anything less than your friend is self-evident folly and contradiction.

I think the biggest attack comes because of the violence in some part of the Bible. This is due because some people take the Bible literally (there is always the need to mediate every religious book with a good interpretation. We have reason for something!)
