I thought spirits were fickle things that go back and forth between the human and the etheral plane.

He and all other spirit beings are non-physical beings. They are not limited by physical things.

Spirit means non-corporeal or non-physical. God, it seems, can exist both ways. Must be an eternal thing.
Science says mass can only be converted, not created nor destoryed. The mass of the universe is always constant.
Hindus believe in reincarnation. The soul or life essence takes another form.

going back and forth is what angels do.
spirit Biblically defined, means composed of the spirit realm.
having spiritual bodies, yet tangible.. like Jesus resurrection body, able to eat physical food, able to walk through solid walls.
ie, not having a physical body that would be subject to disease or death, not physically limited.

GOD is spirit.. when we talk about it (based on christianity) we often petains to the holy spirit. We know that God consist of three person: holy father, jesus, and the holy spirit. Spirit that comes down to us to touch ourlives.
