Well you don't owe them for being born. But I would think you would owe them for giving you a good life and being there for you if they were good parents. Mine sucked, so I don't owe them anything because they didn't raise me.

it has nothing to do with the bible.it has to do with humanity. don't you think, provided you have decent parents, you owe them something? for giving you life, knowledge, whatever. younger people today, not all but some, feel as though they are owed something from their parents or the world. i think that's a little backwards. perhaps "owe" is the wrong word here. maybe we should look at it more like returning a favor (for lack of something better) i do whatever i can for my dad.my mom is dead but i did what i could for her when she was alive. they gave me life, which in itself was a problem, taught me right from wrong and loved me no matter what i did. and believe me, i was hard to love much of the time. i became a better person b/c of them. so, yeah, in my case, i guess i do owe them. if i had to lay down my life for them i would. but i know my dad wouldn't allow it b/c he would give his up first.

You owe your parents for the type of life they gave you growing up. Now, what you owe them would depend on what type of life you had.

You dont owe them anything for being born- depending on what sort of life they have given you, will depend on how proud you feel, that they are your parents. If it wasnt for your parents you wouldnt be here to ask this question

What do you mean by owe? We are to honor our father and mother.

do you plan to have a kid someday? what would you like them to do for you? how would you want to be treated. Teens sometimes don't look at the big picture. Someday they will have to depend on you as you did on them when u were a baby.

Think about it.

It says to honor your father and mother, but not pay them.

It doesn't. It says you should respect your parents.
After all, you had nothing do to in the making of yourself. That was their call.
