I bought a DVD player and it was great for a month. We watched 2 or 3 movies a week or so. Now, suddenly, it has bad pictures: no sound, blocks of the picture instead of a picture, running lines, freezing up all the time... What's going on?

Either you have a bad DVD and it should be under warranty if you bought it new. They don't repair them usually, they just replace them!

You might try running a Laser DVD cleaner as they be dirty.

You also might have a bad disc, which is usually what happens when you get those kinds of issues. Knock-offs usually have those issues. You may also have bought a player that cannot play the type of disc you have. Some won't play old DVDs . Some won't play newer codecs like the new HDCD's

Take it back and get another one. If it is the player, it is possible that it was just a defective one. But I presume you have tried different DVDs on the player and the bad results were all the same.
