Gliding Discs - has anyone used them? Can they be used on carpet?

I am thinking about purchasing but have a couple questions. If you've used them, have you seen good results? I do lots of types of workouts, but this seems like fun.
Also, I would think they only work on hardwood floors, but some of the pictures seem to show them being used on carpet. Can they be used on carpet?

You should NOT use then on hardwood floors. They will slightly scratch them. They work the best on carpet. I use them under my great grandmothers cordenza (it's huge) and I can move it all my myself. They are awesome!

what's the smoothest flooring to use them on?
