I am looking for an answer to this question, too.
I will share my experience so far.
Heat and ice on, the other or alternating 15 min at a time
Anything that helps you relax, scents, sounds, touch.
Anything that distracts you from the pain - -a good movie - -a favorite hobby - playing with an animal or just petting them - - a good book - - talking with a friend about nonsence.
massage, if you can tolerate it, if not full massage, a refleology massage if you can tolerate that.
getting a good nights rest.
I dont think you're looking for medications, but Tylenol and a product called tylenol arthritis - it is still plain out tylenol, but it is slow release, so it lasts for 8 hours instead of the usual 4
don't push your body too hard. Give yourself lots of breaks to stretch and wonder around. Almost any position can eventually leave stiff, if not sore if you stay in it too long.
Keep moving (but don't push it) keep the blood flow going well and keep your muscles strong. Both of those will help you deal with the pain.
I have known a few people in your position and they often also suffer from depression. If this is the case for you, you might concider some therapy - I have a therapist who specializes in treating people with chronic pain. She is helping me learn to seperate my mind from my body so that I fell like I have more control.
There are many great recorded meditations out there for relaxation and for coping with pain. I like to lie down in a quiet, dark, cool space and do those medations.
One other thing I have recently learned, focus your breath. Pay attention to your breath (a kind of meditation in itself) and get it deep and even. You want you breath to fill up your diaphram - out your hand on your stomache and feel the breath going all the way down there before you let it out. The deep breathing (slow and controled) really combats pain and calms you body and mind.
Good Luck and Good Health

Me Too - chiropractor who uses an activator, massage therapist - both of whom know and understand the principles taught in the book at the bottom.
Check and see if you have a yeast overgrowth. If so when taking things like candex to help kill it, also be taking pro-biotics.
Either way stay away from sugars (it makes the pain worse).
Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas (natural muscle relaxers) daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.
Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.
The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).
For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

Medical marijuana is easy to grow but, alas, in the United POLICE States of Amerika you have to be looking over your shoulder and worry about jack-booted thugs invading your home ninja-style, stealing your property, terrorizing your familiy, and kidnapping you all under the guise of "the law." Amerikans have been programmed to let their government trample all over their inalienable rights in order to "send the right message to young people."
