For the younger women, pony tails were very big in the fifties. Also, a short cut called a duck's *ss came in style around 1960 or so. In the early sixties, long straight hair became popular for women (think folk music). As for older women (that is, married women), tightly curled hair ruled in the fifties, but became less tightly curled in the sixties. Perms were very big in the fifties.
If you have your choice between the fifties and sixties, go for the sixties and wear your hair long and straight with some flowers in it -- hippy style, like a little crown of flowers or one stuck behind your ear. Then wear a peasant style dress, a kaftan, or something else long and flowing -- or else tie-dyed.

For the 50's just throw it up into a pony tail. Tie a Chiffon scarf around the hair tie. Those were big then.
For the 60's - a Marlo Thomas "That Girl" type flip will do - if you hair is not that long.

Or if it's pretty long - try something like this...

In the sixties - there was a lot of ratting and teasing of the hair in an attempt to get height on the top of the head. And Aqua Net hairspray was a staple in most households!
Have fun!

For long hair, the easiest, non-cutting style would be a pony tail. Put barrettes on the side for decoration (as if to hold short hairs back). Also, a small (kercheif size) scarf (if you can find one) tied around the elastic in a single knot, ends hanging down.

the form for adult males then became `The Teddy Boy' look with the D/A coiffure. For the ladies it became `pencil skirts' or outfits with many petticoats below and the `Beehive coiffure'. My established T/V coach became global at conflict which became the reason my mom bought a T/V contained in the first position. Actor? could were Pat Boone or someone like that. leisure could be putting around the interior sight cafe which had a jukebox or going to the `Palais' to bounce. everyday sayings were "Cool", "see you later alligator", "suitable on" etc. Fads were attempting to form a `Skiffle team' or `Rock 'n Roll Band'. video clips were `Rock around the Clock' or `severe college unique'. college topics were Geography, English, arithmetic, technology, artwork and historic previous. activities could be `actual education' and `football' for the lads and `Hockey' for the females. Dance strikes were `Jive',`Rock 'n Roll' or `Moondancing' (This became an particularly sluggish dance even as particularly preserving your better 1/2). Any songs by technique of bill Haley & the Comets, Gene Vincent, Connie Francis, Eddie Cochrane, Elvis and my personal established, the `Killer' himself Jerry Lee Lewis. The 50's ? What a loopy and relaxing time. thanks for reminding me of the reliable cases I had again then. Have a well-known man or woman.
