I just came from there two weeks ago. We stayed at the La Toscana Resort in Desert Hot Springs. It was about $79 a night on weekends, but dropped to $59 a night on weekdays. The resort is different and has a beautiful pool and 2 hot tubs (one indoors). The hotel overall though is a ittle run down but can't be beat for the price. They also have a great diner-style restaurant inside the lobby.
I researched all over and this was the best place I could find for the price. We enjoyed staying there!

i'm no longer particular about the pricing, yet attempt the St. Regis in Dana aspect, Ca. (Orange County.) no longer in reality is it interior walking distance to the most marvelous white sand sea coast, they may even commute you down in golf carts. there is also the Montage in Laguna sea coast, and the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel, which over seems the gorgeous white sand sea coast and also you are able to listen the waves from truly some the customer rooms. also evaluate renting a sea coast living house, and going to an afternoon spa, or having facilities come to you.

lists hot springs in CA. I have heard that Wheeler Hot Springs near Ojai is fairly reasonable.
