Weight Watcher's taught us to eat breakfast first then in an hour or so do aerobic exercise. They said it sets your metabolism higher for the entire day. Also we were taught to exercise every other day or three days a week.
I went every day to a gym owned by a former Marine Corps Drill Sgt. He taught us that we could work out every day if we worked different muscle groups on alternate days. Overworking the muscles tears down tissue. Allowing a day of rest allows muscle to repair itself.
Don't avoid carbohydrates, they are needed for muscles to function smoothly, just make sure that your carbs are whole grain. Runners carb-up on pasta before a race for this reason.
The more lean muscle you have the faster the weight loss.
Expect an initial weight gain. It is temporary. Lean muscle weighs more than fat.

The truth is..you are doing it right. Wait about 1 hour after your workout and then have your breakfast. If you are doing cardio (treadmill or eliptical) or any other cardio and then lifting weights during your workout as well, then you are still burning mega calories for approximately 1 hour after you stop. Then eat a healthy, lean protien packed breakfast(egg whites e.t.c) Doing it this way will ensure you have the proper energy. This is not at all scientific, but more of a personal experience...I try not to eat immediately before working out because I often get cramps or feel sick while running if I do so. If you do eat, be sure it is a small/light meal, and I would try to make it at least 1-2 hours prior to working out.
