Of the three choices I'd have to pick:
A lower overall running cost...

since the cost of buying film, processing chemicals and equipment, darkroom expenses (chemicals, photographic paper and equipment e.g. Enlargers) are virtually eliminated.

Lower operating cost is certainly the most obvious advantage. Electrons are much cheaper than film. Also, cameras are rapidly offering greater resolution and more features while prices are still going down. It's the standard computer scenario; any new product is obsolete by the time it hits the store shelves.

Longer battery life? I don't know. I use a rechargeable.
