Hey Nick,

There are many entries in England in the Family Search.com by LDS, and a few from Australia.
61. Margaret Waiting - International Genealogical Index / SP
Gender: Female Birth: 1866 , New South Wales, Australia

Margaret is listed in a Pedigree file with a CD that you can order too. Sometimes these are great, sometimes not.

Waiting being a verb makes this a difficult search...

There is no GENFORUM but there are Genelaogy.com entries

There are links that can help you find others doing research on this name.

First click on the Message Board link at the top of the page. You should find a message board for the surname "Waiting" where you can post queries.

Then click on World Connect-link on the left side of the home page--put "Waiting" in the search engine. You'll find if anyone has posted a family tree of this family.

Finally, go to World Gen Connect-link on right side of the home page. Click on Australia and the state where you think the Waiting family is from.
