"Sweet" idea, Rachael!
If you bring anything for your co-workers, it is your decision. If it is a special occasion, holiday or your birthday, that is a beautiful gesture.
Baking cookies is a very nice gesture that shows your love for others without trying to buy their friendship. It shows that you care and want to share your baking talents or just share something good that is reasonably priced.
Keep it simple and nobody should ever, ever accuse you of any ulterior motive. God bless you

Well, all the sour-pusses may think you are sucking up....are you? If you're doing it because you are nice, then you should just do it and not seem like an eager puppy waiting for a pat on the head.
We had a receptionist who was always wanting to chat with everyone even when they were busy, and would run around the office with treats and then sit and chat...(of course she'd run to her phone if it rang)...but that was kind of TOO much don't you think? I though it was sweet, but honestly there were days when I was busy and had deadlines that I just wanted to scream. I'm not one to offend people so I tried not to, but then she would just come and bother me more...LOL
So as long as you don't take it to extremes, if you are MODEST about it I guess is what I'm trying to say, I think it will speak volumes for the fact that you are just a nice person.
Otherwise it may work against you. I always thought the receptionist was sweet that did that to us, but she was a bit of a nuisance too...she was young...but still...you can kill people with too much niceness. *S* It's a business after all.
Just pick and choose special days in which to do that....Fridays perhaps...or a special occasion (birthday, easter, etc.) It's more genuine that way, and there is nothing wrong with you doing this. Just don't take things to the extreme our receptionist did! :~)

The problem with brownies and cookies would be that if they weren't wrapped individually or eaten within a day or two, they would dry out.
I think you should just stick with a candy jar on your desk.
However, if you want to do something REALLY nice for everyone, bring in a home-cooked breakfast one day! So many people don't have time for a decent breakfast.

Brownies or cookies sounds like a great idea. Just put them out. People will find them. If you advertise that they are there, some might think you're sucking up. If they do, so what. You're just trying to be nice.

Have a nice jar in your desk with candies. Let them know that those are for everybody. Also, having a smile on your face always helps. Depending on the environment of your office having a place for the thought of the day might not look awkward. There is a site TUT (Totally Unconventional Thought) that send a daily email with positive thoughts, you might want to check it out.
Once in a while you can have fresh flowers and offer one of them to the people that make positive comments about the flowers. That way look spontaneous, not sucking up.

I used to work at a mortgage office where the receptionist would have seasonal candy sitting out in this big margarita vase. No, I don't think it's sucking up to do something like that. I've always brought treats in for people.

Wow, thats major brown nosing; but if you really really really want to do something, take a big pink box full of donuts in tomorrow morning. To not make it "seem that way (kissing up)", you have two choices; you could skip the whole thing all together, OR say well, I had a craving and since I was there....! BTW, can a get a cream cheese danish??
